According to “Nikkan Sports” of Japan, Bae Yong Joon received thousands of “Thank You” letters from Japan Tsunami victims. On March 15th, as a foreigner, Bae Yong Joon donated one billion won for the disaster, fifteen thousands of blankets and 3 medical vehicles which were delivered to the damaged areas. Victims who received relief items from Bae Yong Joon wrote him letters or sent pictures.

The letters showed their gratitude by saying, “I appreciate you sending us water and drinks which are the items mostly needed at a shelter.”, “I can’t repay you right now, but I’m going to learn Korean earnestly to show my gratitude in Korean.”.

Nikkan Sports said, after Bae Yong Joon read all the letters, that he expressed his appreciation by saying, “I appreciate their efforts in sending me messages on the boxes and wrapping papers they must have had hard time getting them.”

Bae Yong Joon donated one billion won to the Cabinet Government Funds which was directed by Prime Minister of Japan to help Japan Tsunami victims. The tsunami occurred on March 11th.

“We met right after he had finished the filming of “TWSSG” and became close friends right away because of our similar taste in wine. Bae Yong Joon is a famous wine lover who likes installing a wine cellar at the basement. His wine cellar was equipped with various kinds of wines. There are inexpensive daily wines and expensive wines as well. Whenever his acquaintances visit his house, he hosts a blind wine tasting, not telling its price, kind, origin, and vintage. Bae Yong Joon’s nickname listed on Lee Joon Hyuk’s cell phone is “Mr. Bae in the neighborhood”. They used to live in the same area, Samseong-dong. They got close quickly because of the close proximity and their love for wine. Now, they live together and even travel together.

“We once went to the wine tasting event which was held in Busan. It was a good opportunity to taste the best Romanee Conti vintage wines, but I drank them all, even his, because he had to drive. I fell asleep and even snored in the car. He told me later that I was the first person who fell asleep while he was driving (laugh). He told me that he asked his managers not to drive excessively, because he realized how hard it was when he drove to Busan and returned to Seoul. He is truly a caring person.”

He said that Bae Yong Joon carries a humble attractiveness, not like top stars. It seems that he has a feast every meal, but he enjoys $2.50 rice and soup and cooks at home. He is known as a perfectionist of self-management. He said that he always sees Bae Yong Joon on the running machine the next morning after drinking together the night before. He also said that Bae Yong Joon is talented in various areas other than acting such as taking photos, art, and even cooking.

“Hyeong (BYJ) enjoys taking photos as much as he likes carrying both film cameras and digital cameras. He held an exhibition at Mori-Gallery in Japan. He said that he had to click the shutter when he felt something while looking at a subject. He said the techniques could be improved, but not the feelings.”

The most expensive car registered in Korea might be a Mercedes-Benz Maybach 62 owned by the agency of famous actor Bae Yong-joon, who was seen riding in the ultra-luxurious automobile himself.

Rep. Ahn Hong-joon from the ruling National Grand Party said Sunday that Koreans owned a total of 48,423 imported vehicles whose prices were above 100 million won ($94,600), citing government data.

Among them, corporations and legal entities have 10,466 with KeyEast, Bae’s agency, having the most expensive one _ the Maybach 62 worth more than 800 million won.

However, Ahn’s data does not include vehicles of individual motorists. Accordingly, it remains uncertain which model is the ultimate champion on the price list even though the Maybach 62 is a serious contender.

Bae has gained the spotlight in Asia over the past several years in spreading the Korean wave, or ``hallyu,’’ across the continent. In particular, he enjoys huge popularity in Japan after his soap operas were big hits there. Bae is also a major shareholder of KeyEast.

``The second and third most expensive vehicles held by firms were also Maybach 62s. Taekwang Industrial and Samsung Electronics bought models for 796 million won and 791 million won, respectively,’’ an aide to Ahn said.

Taekwang is a Busan-based shoemaker whose erstwhile Chairman Park Yeon-cha gained media attention in the late 2000s in a bribery scandal involving former President Roh Moo-hyun.

The investigations eventually resulted in the suicide of Roh in 2009 in a high-profile investigation, which started after Park’s confession. There still remain doubts as to whether Park’s testimony was 100 percent true.

Samsung Electronics is the world’s leading manufacturer of memory chips and flat-panel displays whose Chairman Lee Kun-hee is famous for his affection for automobiles.

The 69-year-old Samsung tycoon has been known to have a Maybach variant that is different from the company car, which is parked at its head office in southern Seoul for VIP visitors.

Maybach is a super-luxury sedan brand of Mercedes-Benz. It comes in two sizes _ the 57 and the 62, which represents the length of the vehicles in decimeters.

Some models are known to take half a year to build because Maybach offers various options for drivers so that they can personalize the vehicles with diverse equipment. The result: Its price tag varies largely in accordance to the options.

Included in the model’s client list are North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and Microsoft head Bill Gates.

In the meantime, Ahn said that Samsung Electronics and CJ Cheil Jedang, and two law firms owned the most number of imported vehicles valued over 100 million won at 10 each.

[edaily Starin reporter Kim Young Hwan] Yonsama Bae Yong Joon made an appearance on SBS’s show, “Strong Heart” in voice only, he did not appear physically.

On the 26th of last month, at the recording of The King of Kings Battle of SBS’s show, “Strong Heart”, Kim Hyun Joong called Bae Yong Joon. He appeared in the show in voice only and encouraged Kim Hyun Joong.

On that day, Kim Hyun Joong called Bae Yong Joon on the spur of the moment. Bae Yong Joon answered the phone and his appearance by phone was accomplished. Bae Yong Joon has been known as a famous star that does not appear on shows.

With lost hope from tweets about YJ’s whereabouts last night, I went to a cod soup restaurant which I visit once or twice a week with my fellow fan. I took the heavy “A Journey in Search of Korea’s Beauty” which I have been taking every time I visited Seoul.

I even had a lukewarm reaction to my regular restaurant owner’s joking. I had no taste of that delicious food.

Can’t we seen him, sis? Let’s go home after the meal.

We gave up our clever, empty dream and decided to leave the restaurant. I felt better as I gave up.

We walked down the hill comfortably after we gave up everything. Then.. there was a Ferrari down the hill. It was a Ferrari! Isn’t a Ferrari, sis? I ran down the street towards a Ferrari trying to look for a parking space. YJ placed his arm on an opened window because of his hopeless parking situation and his nice, soft hairs were scattered by the wind like in the romance cartoons. Am I dreaming? I dared to approach to him and watch him from the corner. YJ had a short conversation with a parking lot attendant. Then he thought for a short period of time, left his car on the street, got out from the driver seat (leaving his passenger inside), and walked inside of the restaurant. Did he grow more? He looked tall. When he disappeared, then, I looked at the one in the passenger seat. Woman? It was a tall, handsome, young man.

YJ came out from the restaurant, got on his car, and parked his car with the guide. Looking at the car zigzagging, in front of his car, I was speechless. We interfered his parking. I don’t think YJ didn’t realize that two women who interfered his parking were his fans. I didn’t think we’re going to have a chance to see him zigzagging, having trouble parking his car backwards. He parked his car too close to the potted plant. I wondered how he could get out from his car because the space (between his car and the potted plant) was very small. He opened the door, hit the potted plant a little, and got out from his car nicely. He went inside the restaurant with his company in the passenger seat, who was as handsome as entertainers. We couldn’t talk to him, but we were just looking at his back.

Here are the comments which I posted on boonseongbae’s posting.

It was a very nice moment shaking hands with him, getting his autograph and having eye contact with him. But it was more impressive looking at him going inside then returning to his car for parking problems, and getting on his car again. He looked like he was in his twenties. I was so happy for having an accidental meeting at the same time and place. While we were waiting for him, parking attendants approached us. Yonsama? No.. We said, “Yes”, but It seemed like they didn’t believe us. No.. Did Yonsama drive down here without security guards? We said that it was possible. They said that he was really handsome.

He was wearing beige semi-baggy pants, tight shirts with his sleeves folded halfway on top of t-shirts, vest or cardigan with half sleeves, a beige backpack on his shoulder and orange transparent sunglasses. I looked at him while he signed his autograph in his car; his face was really sharp and handsome. When I saw him in real life, I’ve never thought he has a fair face. But his face was really fair without blemishes like being under hundreds of reflectors. He was really cute when he talked to himself while signing his autograph.

When the driver rolled down the window, she saw YJ in the driver seat troubling to find a parking space. There wasn’t a parking space for him. He apparently went inside then returned to his car to attempt to park again.

There was a young handsome man in his twenties next to BYJ without security. She called members of byjintoronto and they waited about one hour in front of a sushi restaurant. They had a chance to talk to him; boonseongbae nim posted a detailed story on byjintoronto to share it with us.

Kim Soo Hyun hasn’t forgotten to talk about Bae Yong Joon at the recent interviews with this company. He hasn’t appear in the scenes with Bae Yong Joon in “Dream High,” not even one scene.

“I haven’t had any scenes where I appear with him in ‘Dream High.’ So, I’ve never had a chance to meet him in front of the camera. But he continuously encourages me. He sent me text messages one by one while monitoring the drama. Most of them critiqued the scenes. I really appreciate that.”

“We had a conversation after the drama ended. He asked me about my feelings, and I answered with a positive response. Yong Joon hyeong said, “This is the most important time. You should share your love with others once you receive love from others. Please don’t forget modesty as well.” He helps me a lot.”

Kim Soo Hyun called Bae Yong Joon “Yong Joon hyeong” during the interview. I was curious because Bae Yong Joon is a major shareholder of Keyeast.

He said, “I was scared when I saw Yong Joon hyeong for the first time. Managers scared me saying, “Be careful.”, as a joke. I introduced myself to him nervously. But he responded nicely by saying, “Oh, I know you.” Since then, I opened my mind little by little and began to call him hyeong. Actually, once I asked him how I should call him because of his high position, CEO. But he said, “Call me as you would like” (laugh).

Kim Soo Hyun learned a lot from Bae Yong Joon by being near him. So he didn’t miss Bae Yong Joon’s name in discussion of his role models.

“I like Christopher Waltz in the movie, “Inglourious Basterds” I wanted to become an actor like him right after I watched the movie. Of course, Yong Joon hyeong is my role model in Korea. I’d like to learn his ability to be perfect.”

That day was a day that rained really hard. That day I was so busy working at the new building (outside) that I lost my mind. I had to hold the guests' umbrellas, make sure their reservations were taken care of... I was rained on so much... All my makeup was ruined and I just turned into a beast... Haha...

But then all of a sudden, an electronic reservation came in. It was so unbearably busy and a reservation came in. I was throwing a fit while taking down the information, but I found out two hours later that it was a reservation for two people through Kim Hyun Joong. Hehe...

But I had no idea in my wildest dreams that it would actually be Kim Hyun Joong. It is because in the past, there was a reservation under Kang Dong Won's name so I was so excited that I put on my makeup and was waiting around for so long that I kept myself from going to the restroom because I didn't want to miss him!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was instead a grandfather in this 70's saying that he made a reservation under the name Kang Dong Won. So that's why I was thinking to myself that it must be someone with the same name !!!! Yet although the booking information was the same. Or could it have been that he was the grandfather of Kang Dong Won??... I wondered. For a grandfather to say that he was Kang Dong Won.. Haha... These kinds of things end up happening a lot so that's why I genuinely did not know what to think. If I knew, I wouldn't have looked like a monster like I had!!!!!!

Anyways, two hours went by pretty quickly as we changed around the lobby with so many crowded people. So I was greeting and directing the guests through the lobby when a cashier came up to me saying that someone was looking for me to check their reservations. I weaved through the crowd of people and went. (That's not allowed, but it was so busy and I was so frustrated...)

A man in dark clothes and a dark hat that was pressed closed to their face was standing close to the counter.

Me: the name of your reservation-_-?
? - It should be under Kim Hyun Joong.

But I couldn't really hear him with the noise from the rain and the crowds.

Me: Excuse me? What did you say? What name?

From there my heart just kept beating... So then the Kim Hyun Joong was that Kim Hyun Joong? >< Oh my God! But I didn't realize that I just had missed seeing Kim Hyun Joong go inside... He seemed to have went into the room when I was trying to avoid all of the busy traffic. Oh my!

But doesn't the car usually wait for him when he's ready to leave? Oohh.....

It was when it hadn't been long since Kim Hyun Joong shot "Boys Over Flowers" so his hair was still blonde and wearing a casual suit... It was really like seeing someone out of a movie... he had a high nose and skin as white as a precious stone. I had no chance going near him with my plain face...

He was really tall, but didn't seem like he was a very articular person... And that was not regarding his acting, but his real life personality.

Since Bae Yong Joon and Kim Hyun Joong came, there was a large amount of staff that came out in a single filed line. Bae Yong Joon went by really quickly and Kim Hyun Joong didn't know what to do so he just kept nodding and walked by.

+ When the two went to go sit down at the table, everything got really crazy. The two female managers were trying to fight to stay in the room to assist them.

And the female employee that was assigned to assist in that room happened to be a huge Kim Hyun Joong fan, so she was shaking the whole time she was cooking their barbecue on the grill. She still got an autograph at the end... I was really jealous.

Bae Yong Joon decided to complete his role as a producer even though he is ill.

In January, Bae Yong Joon was hospitalized due to a recurring ruptured cervical disc and received treatment for 17 days. Fortunately, the treatment result was good, so he was discharged from the hospital. Since then, he has been receiving treatment as an out-patient. It’s known that he is concentrating in receiving treatment and has refrained from business activities.

But he is showing lots of interests in the production team and casts of KBS 2TV’s Mon-Tue drama “Dream High (writer Park Hye Ryeon, producer Lee Eung Bok)” which is his first production. Bae Yong Joon will be attending the wrap-up party of “Dream High” with Park Jin Young, co-producer, at a restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul on the afternoon of March 1st.

Someone related to his agency, Keyeast, explained that, “He didn’t attend the additional filming of ‘Dream High’ due to a ruptured cervical disc, but, he’ll definitely be attending the wrap-up party where all of the staff will be going. He takes it seriously because it is the wrapping-up of the drama which he has planned for a long time.”

All of the main casts of “Dream High”, Kim Soo Hyun, Bae Suzy, Ok Taec Yeon, and Jang Woo Young, will be attending the wrap-up party. The production team decided to have a private wrap-up party to applaud all of the staff and casts who participated with the Dream High production.

“Yonsama” Bae Yong Joon filed a lawsuit against a cameraman of the monthly magazine who took pictures of the inside of the house which he purchased in Seongbuk-dong last year.

On 23rd of February, someone related to Keyeast, his agency, had a telephone conversation with Newsen and said that, “On the 18th, Bae Yong Joon filed a lawsuit against a reporter who invaded Bae Yong Joon’s privacy by taking pictures of his house in Seongbuk-dong.”

The same person above said, “We kind of understand the outside pictures since they’re already released before, but he even came into the yard to take pictures. Unfortunately, he invaded privacy and private property without the owner’s permission.”

He also added, “He took pictures of inside of the house including the yard and published them in the magazine. We filed a lawsuit for the invasion of private property. We’ve no idea how he entered the house because there were workers remodeling the house and the main entrance must be used to enter the house.

Bae Yong Joon bought a 5 billion won worth house in Seongbuk-dong, Seoul last autumn, and it became a topic. His house is currently under interior construction and he plans to move into the house as soon as the construction is completed.

Bae Yong Joon visited the specialist, Ahn Hwa Ja who has been working with traditional and natural dye techniques for the last 32 years.

Bae: How long has it been since safflowers have been preserved?

Ahn: It has been about one month.

Narrator: It was a different experience; an experience that nature produced. All the procedures approached Bae Yong Joon, who has been interested in Korean traditional culture, like being exposed to magic.

(safflowers’ ddeok – dried safflowers after pound in a mortar)

Safflower is planted in the late spring, and picked in July or August.
It is good for dyeing because of its vivid and dark color.

(Lye – it is used to extract the red from safflowers)

The first step is completed after extracting the color from safflowers’ ddeok which has been preserved in pots for about 20 days.

(These are the liquids made with omae liquid, the liquid which was made from smoked plums, and Maximowiczia typica liquid)

Ahn: The liquid will be boiled when this extracted liquid is added to the color liquid. And then, the fabric will be soaked in the liquid when it will change colors according to the dye.

Narrator: Just like this, the fabric can be colored with the dye which was made through extraction or boiling.

Bae: Is this the last step to extract the color, teacher?

Ahn: No. After this step, safflowers, which were treated to go well with alkali, should be rinsed with water again. It should be rinsed with hot water to extract the remaining color.

Narrator: It is healthy and eco-friendly because all the materials are extracted from nature.

Ahn: Look at this. You’re able to see the difference when compared with the regular water used.

Bae: Little bit.

Ahn: A very little. Using lye continuously,

Bae: Little lighter.

Ahn: It means that lye still remains even though the regular water was used.

Narrator: It’s not easy to get the precious things. It was a series of hard processes, man-made, from the beginning to the end. He said that we have to learn by ourselves to understand the spirit of the masters. From what he said, we can see his passion.
